Just finished the last 2014 LaDona’s. I can’t say much more about this wine, I’ve already said so much, see links below. Still delicious and unique as those who made it:

Bye bye 2014 LaDona’s!

Kabaj is liquid gold.

I love skin contact and if I were on death row and had to select wine for my last meal, it would without a doubt be a wine made by Jean-Michel Morel. His wines suit my personality like no other. They give me both strength and stimulate me intellectually. I love them with or without food. They aren’t fussy and I feel like I can break through walls with my fist after one glass. My favorite is the Amfora. Aged in Georgian qvevri amphora, it is elegant and transcends whatever you think a wine should be. If you don’t like these wine, well, I probably won’t like you. More on this later.

Fun in San Diego

Fun night in San Diego last night hanging with Michael ChristianLos Pilares winemaker extraordinaire at The Rose Wine Bar in South Park. It was also a pleasure to finally meet my instagram friend Katie Fawkes. Katie pulled out a bottle I thought I’d like and she was right. She’s obviously been tracking my drinking habits and knows me quite well. The 2014 Lovamor was a fresh delight. The grape: Albillo. The winemaker: Alfredo Maestro.

San Diego you’re growing on me.

Flashback: 2014 Los Pilares LaDona’s, Sparkling Muscat

GRAPE: Muscat APP: San Diego County COUNTRY: USA PRICE: $25

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Sparkling Muscat from San Diego County! If this bottle was a book it would be a page turner. Once open, it’s hard to put down this bottle. I had the good fortune of meeting and speaking to @michaellospilares of Los Pilares about all things wine in San Diego County and his passion is backed up by the evidence in the bottle. I remember the moment @amyatwoodwine poured me a taste, once the glass was close to my nose it was over, and once it my mouth I felt a cool chill and goosebumps, at that moment I knew this would be one of my favorites this year. Fun and thoughtful, foot stomped whole clusters, bottle conditioned, slightly bubbly, not disgorged, so much flavor, so much heart, a wine made without fear. It’s strikes a chord of perfect harmony & dissonance.

Update: I opened another bottle of the 2014 LaDona’s on 6/5/2016, and I assure you it is alive and kicking hard. It’s better than ever and I only hope there are a few bottles left.
